The Launch of our ISTA 50th Annual Conference took place in the Science Gallery at 7.30pm on Friday 20th April 2012. After a Welcome Address to Dublin by Lord Mayor Andrew Montague, this was followed by a warm welcome to Trinity College by the Provost Patrick Prendergast. Then, outgoing National ISTA Chairperson, Ms Yvonne Higgins, was followed by Ms Patricia Reilly, who played a video clip on behalf of Commissioner Maire Geoghegan Quinn.
The plenary talk was given by award winning Professor John Boland, Director of CRANN at Trinity College. His lecture is called 'Tiny but Mighty and controllable: How today's nano-materials will lead to tomorrow's technologies.' It was followed by a reception in the Science Gallery sponsored by Trinity College. Music was provided by Ceoltoirí Carolan, a group of harpists who are have played in both national and international venues, such as the Mansion House, Dublin Castle, Trinity College & Bruges.
